Mithai Mandir for Authentic North Indian Vegetarian Fare in Vadapalani, Chennai

Mithai Mandir is a restaurant situated in Vadapalni, Chennai. Cuisines served by Mithai Mandir are Gujarati and Rajasthani and it is a vegetarian restaurant.

It is a small restaurant with 2 floors. The entire restaurant is Air conditioned. The smell of traditional Rajasthani cuisines soon starts to tickle your nostrils once you start ordering your food, making you all the more hungry. The service is reasonably quick here.

If you are familiar with T Nagar Mansukh, this restaurant is their sister concern. Infact they ran the 90s Mansukh which was on Usman Road, together.

Dhokla is one of best we can find in Chennai. I still don’t know how they manage to make such soft dhoklas. Do try the kachoris and make sure you have enough space to eat that bigger than normal kachori.

The restaurant specializes in Rajasthani and Gujarathi food, serves authentic thalis and they also have Chaat items, 12 varieties of sweets, Combo meals, rice variety, Raithas and a wonderful variety of stuffed parathas. The Cheese Paneer paratha is a must try. For the Oh-I-am-Diet-conscious or Oh-gosh-not-that-oily-stuff people, you can try their wonderful phulkas, and I can bet you cannot find one as soft as these along with their dal to go.

Do try the badam milk, malai lassi if you love to end up with a sweet lip smacking dessert.

  1. This place is good, you get authentic North Indian Vegetarian dishes. Their food is very tasty, but for take away I had to wait for nearly an hour, on a busy evening. All items taste and appears like that of Mansukh. I think the owner is a cousin of Mansukh restaurant of T. Nagar.
